My Priorities for Stourbridge

Secure our local economy and build the homes we need

Recovering the country from 13 years of austerity will not be easy, but I will always stand up for our area. We need to invigorate our town centres in Stourbridge, Brierley Hill, Netherton and get the heartbeat back in the High Streets. I will push for desperately needed affordable homes to be built locally on brownfield sites, and drive down social housing waiting lists.

A strong voice for the Climate Emergency

I’m passionate about environmental issues and ensuring we leave behind a cleaner, greener world for future generations. I will consider the environment in every decision, support development of green industries in the Black Country, and back Labour’s plan to create a publicly owned clean power generation company to cut energy bills.

Championing our NHS

I will fight for an NHS fit for the future, free at the point of care for all when they need it. I will push for privitised services to be brought back under the NHS and make clear that our health service is not for sale. We need more GPs so everyone can access appointments. I will lobby for a National Care Service to provide quality care for all who need it, and for a pay boost for carers.

Safer Streets

Cuts to our police and justice services have destroyed public confidence and allowed criminals to operate without fear of the law. I will work with the Labour Police and Crime Commissioner to restore police numbers to pre-2010 levels, so we can tackle anti-social behavior and crime that plagues our streets. I will continue to lobby for a Stourbridge Police base to keep our Neighbourhood and Response teams local and visible.

Opportunities for all

I believe the same opportunities should be offered to everyone, not the privileged few. I will support reform of childcare and education, to raise standards and give children the best start in life, while allowing parents to return to work. We need more apprenticeships and skills training to offer alternatives to traditional academic pathways.

Stourbridge wins when we have

a local champion fighting our corner.

  • I believe I am the change we need, a local woman who will always put Stourbridge first.

  • I will remain living in the Constituency and provide a local office for use by local members and the community.

  • I will be visible and accountable always.
